Lawrence Yang

* Piano - Keyboard - Violin - Viola

My family brought me to New Zealand in 1994 and at age eleven I began taking piano lessons.

I played piano as a soloist and/or accompanist for school events, competitions, youth programme and rest homes.

In 2006, I completed my Bachelor of Music Education degree, specialising in secondary school teaching, at Auckland University.

In 2011 I studied Diploma in Primary school teaching at Massey University.

In 2000 I added violin as a second instrument, and shortly there after the viola.

I joined the Auckland Symphony Orchestra in early 2002 and have remained a constant member since.
In 2011 I joined the Devonport Chamber Orchestra.
In 2015 I formed a string quartet with 3 friends and play as the first violinist within the group.

I continue to study violin/viola with Brecon Carter, former Concert Master of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.

I enjoy teaching piano most of all. I tutor in primary schools as well as in my own home piano studio. I aim to foster friendly learning environment and strive to ensure my lessons are combined with a friendly, caring and responsible attitude.

I am also an avid hobbyist photographer and offer my skills as a semi-profession.
